Restaurant Week :: Local Picks

Restaurant Week in Las Vegas is always exciting for my girlfriends and I, as it gives us the opportunity to explore so many fabulous dining options in our city. Naturally, it is also a feel-good moment as we know we are dining and donating proceeds to our local food bank, three square Las Vegas.

Every year I’m asked by readers to suggest places to dine during Restaurant Week. Every year, it is such a difficult choice to make! The list of participating restaurants is located here, so you can see for yourself how many wonderful options are out there. After perusing the list for Spring, and having been invited to a few new spots for lunch, I’m going to go with the following:

On the Strip

Bagatelle…I personally have not sat down to dine here, yet, however, I did attend the Grand Opening, and had a chance to taste a variety of their specialty cocktails and appetizers. I cannot wait to go back. Bagatelle is operated by the ONE Group, which is also the parent company operating the infamous, STK at the Cosmopolitan Las Vegas. Why am I choosing Bagatelle as a go-to spot for Restaurant Week? Atmosphere. Plain and simple. It looks like a really cool place to have dinner. With random spurts of entertainment, gorgeous chandeliers, great ambiance and vibe, and endless bottles of champs…who wouldn’t want to check out this place? Pick a dinner option from one of the three prix fixed menus, and peep out the scene. The pool promises to be another scene to be seen over the summer, and Restaurant Week is a perfect opportunity to scope out your spot.

Taqueria Canonita…if the first suggestion is a bit to flashy for your mood, then consider a casual dining experience at Taqueria Canonita in the Venetian. “Mexican City soul food” is the theme here, and they are right on the money. A recent remodel, new chef and tasty menu items, it will be difficult to not have a great time here. The atmosphere of the canals and blue skies all while dining inside gives the impression that it is never a bad day in Mexico, Vegas, Italy…or where ever you want to be. Margaritas are hand crafted and made with fresh ingredients. A few of my favorite items were the Patzcuro Duck Relleno, Roasted Mussels & Shrimp Skillet, and Santa Rosa Pork Barbacoa (to die for!!). Visit their Restaurant Week menu to decide on lunch or dinner. This is also one place you can bring the kids. Though there is not an actual Children’s Menu, the chef is happy to provide kid-friendly options.

Off the Strip

The Pasta Shop…hands down one of my favorite places to dine in Henderson. Read my review before you choose between their lunch and dinner options, and go with an empty tummy. Fresh past, great wine selection, interesting art and good stories are bound to fill you up!

Cantina Laredo…I spend one day a week in Summerlin at the Kidville classes with my boys, and am always looking for a new place to try that is kid-friendly. I was invited to dine at Cantina Laredo at Tivoli Village, and triple checked to make sure I could bring along my little entourage. The staff was beyond friendly, quick and forgiving (huge mess!). A restaurant with a Mexican flair, I enjoyed the decor and the fresh avocados inside the mortar and pestles set up on the tables told me right away, the guac was good. Prepared table side, I think it was one of my favorite dishes. I also loved how there was an actual kids menu that  offered more than Mexican options. My boys had french fries and hot dogs, which was perfect for them.
