Fall in Las Vegas is 90 degree weather, leggings, UGGS, and Pumpkin Spiced Lattes. It’s also the perfect time for Nevada Residents to take advantage of the Nevada’s Day holiday with a fabulous Fall trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, to celebrate the changing of the seasons.

All through the month of October, Disneyland gets spookier! Disney Villains running amuck, Mickey and pals dressed in costume, Halloween treats and pumpkin decorations galore. Even the rides get all gussied up in their Halloween finest. Space Mountain turns into a Ghost Galaxy complete with creepy music and ghoulish space creatures appearing from nowhere. Tower of Terror delights with frights from a “supernatural” event that took place there on Halloween night in 1939. And, of course, my absolute favorite, the Haunted Mansion decked in Nightmare Before Christmas with Jack Skeleton and Sandy donning their Santa and reindeer costumes.

Don’t forget the parties! Disney knows how to get the spirits moving with the new Mad T Party’s, “Dead Man’s Party” at California Adventure, and who can forget Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland! My family had a great time at the Mickey’s Halloween Party last year dressing up in their costumes and trick or treating with all the characters. Some of their favorite experiences were Mickey’s Cavalcade, where the characters parade through the pack in their Halloween costumes, Halloween Screams fireworks display, and the dance parties throughout the park.

Halloween Goofy and Pirates

Here are some other great reasons to attend the Mickey’s Halloween Party:

  • The special opportunity to play in Disneyland for three hours before the party starts
  • Trick or Treating – candy and healthy treats - in the ultimate Disney neighborhood
  • The “Halloween Screams” fireworks spectacular, hosted by “Master of Scare-omonies” Jack Skellington (presented exclusively for guests of Mickey’s Halloween Party)
  • “Mickey’s Costume Party” cavalcade featuring some favorite characters, performed twice nightly
  • The Cadaver Dans ghoul quartet, performing Halloween-themed tunes aboard a drifting graveyard-themed raft on the Rivers of America in New Orleans Square and Frontierland
  • Dance parties, where guests will “boo-gie” to lively music
  • An opportunity for everyone in the family to attend the park in costumes
  • Photo locations with popular Disney and Pixar Pals, and Disney Villains
  • Nearly all the favorite Disneyland rides and attractions, plus Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy
  • Complimentary parking for one standard-size vehicle

Tickets to Mickey’s Halloween Party purchased in advance are $59 most days, while tickets purchased on the event days are $67. All tickets to Mickey’s Halloween Party on Wednesday, Oct. 30, and Halloween Night, Thursday, Oct. 31, are $74. Mickey’s Halloween Party is a non-smoking event. Smoking will be permitted in the Esplanade outside the Disneyland Main Entrance.

For more information about Halloween Time at Disneyland Resort, see www.disneyland.com/halloween. This site will be updated with frightfully fun details.

If you think your little ones might get too spooked, don’t worry, there is plenty for them to do, too, like the Monsters U Dance Party, Pirates League and the Halloween Carnival at Big Thunder Ranch.

OK- so exciting news for Nevada residents- Friday, October 25th, is the observed holiday for Nevada’s Day. Which means 3-day weekend, and the Mickey’s Halloween Party will be happening that night! If you are apart of the Clark County School District, you will also get the Thursday before off for a Staff Development Day, allowing for a 4-day weekend, October 24-27!

As if you needed more convincing…I’m sharing some of my favorite Fall photos from Halloweentime at Disneyland from my Instagram account. #RSMLVDisney

This summer I rediscovered my love for San Diego. A 6- hour car ride from Las Vegas, Mission Beach is where I spent my summers as a child. After high school, you could find me living ocean front while studying for my classes at the University of San Diego. I left when I was 22, and headed back to Vegas to start the next chapter in my life. It had been over 12 years since I had gone back to enjoy the city. Quick day trips to Sea World or the San Diego Zoo didn’t really count, and when family friends invited us to stay at their gorgeous home on Coronado Island, there was no hesitation in our very enthusiastic, “YES!”.

It’s #IGTravelThursday again, hosted by Skimbaco Lifestyle, and this time, I take you all over America’s Finest City documenting our stay in San Diego, California.

San Diego, California- #RSMLVSanDiego

As I mentioned in my previous post about Carlsbad, California, my older children are used to, and very comfortable with mommy, and sometimes daddy, taking them on special trips. It took a few weeks for them to get used to the idea that our entire family, including the twins, daddy AND the nanny would be there. Our trip to San Diego was my absolute favorite trip of the season. We were graced with the opportunity to stay on Coronado Island. Rich in history, Coronado Island is home to the famous Hotel Del Coronado. Our family took advantage of the pristine beaches, dining and shopping at the hotel. We enjoyed cruising down Orange Ave. to discover other fun spots and local treats. Across the bridge, my husband and I enjoyed the liveliness of Downtown San Diego, eating at the ultra-trendy hot spot, SearSucker. We took the kids on a Behind the Scenes tour at the San Diego Safari Park, where we had the chance to see big cats and other creatures up close and personal. I can’t lie when I say I was a tad bit nervous. That’s how close we were. On a Sunday, we visited my alma mater to see the new developments on campus, and boast to my kids about the college years. And, finally, our favorite spot to visit was Balboa Park, filled with museums and Spanish colonial architecture, we spent all day there and did not come close to exploring the entire park. Definitely something to put back on the list for our next trip to San Diego. My family travel advice: Enjoy the family during your trip, but try to find some time to escape with your Significant Other. Creating intimate times together during the stay helps you relax, converse and re-live the events of the trip.

Busy mom of 4- you know the story. Most of the time, I feel like I am being pulled in 5 different directions. It is very important to me that I try to live life in the moment by being as present as possible with my children and my spouse. Not as easy as it sounds. Each person really does need that extra attention, and I work hard to give it to them. The twins are great fun, but they also require 100% of my time when I am out and about with all four kids. I often find myself struggling to spread the love when I’m in those moments, so I came up with the solution of occasional separate trips, dinners and events with just my older kids. These moments are really special to me, and I know my children benefit from the attention I am able to give them. Even if they have to share mommy with one other sibling. It’s much better than splitting it 4-ways!

Today is #IGTravelThursday hosted by Skimbaco Lifestyle, and I am sharing with you my 3-day trip to Carlsbad, California with my two older children. This was our great escape for the summer, together, and we had a truly memorable time. Thanks to our sponsors, Four Seasons Residence Club, Aviara, North San Diego, and LegoLand California.

Carlsbad, California– #RSMLVCBad

Continuing on our journey, after visiting Telluride, we headed west. This time to the North County of San Diego, California to a quaint beach town called Carlsbad. My two older children and I were invited guests at the Four Seasons Residence Club Aviara, North San Diego. A beautiful, luxurious family focused resort situated on the Batiquitos Lagoon Nature Preserve. The resort itself is actually a Four Seasons Residence, which means almost all units have owners. There are 246 villas on the property, each individually owned, and all are available to rent nightly*- just like any other hotel. We loved the amenities of the pools, fitness centers and cafes. I swear I had the best truffle fries in my life at the Summits Grill, I couldn’t get enough. Both children were also invited to attend Camp at the Kids Club 760, where they were treated to an Etiquette Class. During our stay, we were also invited to experience all three parks at LegoLand California. To top off our 3-day vacation, we enjoyed our last night’s dinner at Pizza Port, a serious local’s spot. My RockStarMom travel advice: At the end of your trip, make a picture book using on-line sites like Shutterfly.com. The books I have made for my children are some of their favorites, and they have fun reliving the memories with each other.
