Costa del Sur Spa and Salon

Beyond the smoke and noise of the casino is a hidden gem, the Costa del Sur Spa and Salon, at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa. I have been told about their phenomenal services, treatments and over all ambiance, but I have to admit, I was a bit hesitant to explore on my own. An invitation from the Costa del Sur Spa and Salon to experience the Bright Skin Facial, which incorporates Eminence organic products, had me intrigued. Besides, who can refuse a day at the spa?

I booked my treatment for 10am, giving me plenty of time to enjoy the facilities and relax after a busy morning of school drop offs with my kids. I even offered to take all four to school so my husband could cat nap before work. Not even sure I said, “googd-bye” to the last kid as I sped off in pursuit of “Me Time” at the Costa del Sur Spa. Note- I did not transform that quickly…the beautiful, svelte, blonde model is not me! Photos are courtesy of South Point Hotel and Casino.

The South Point is centrally located at the almost southern point of Las Vegas Boulevard. Though most likely a bit easier for those living in the South part of the Valley, the I-15 offers easy access to the hotel. I always valet, for many reasons, but this time, mainly because I didn’t know where I was going. Easy enough, the spa is located directly at the back of the hotel, and hang a left. Once I passed the frantic energy of the slot machines and the blinking lights directing me to the movie theater and bowling alley, I came to a quieter space…a long corridor that began to lead me to my oasis. I passed the quaint little Barber Shop, the Salon, Fitness Center and onto the Spa. Greeted by a beautiful copper and stone sign welcoming me into the Costa del Sur Spa.

The Gaughan Family has always had a strong and respectable presence in the Las Vegas gaming arena. Impressively, they spared no expense with the Costa del Sur Spa. A serene escape, the 40,000 square foot spa houses 28 treatment rooms, steam, sauna, whirlpools and waterfall showers.

The Relaxation Area is well equipped with several options from The Republic of Tea, along with a Lavazza espresso, cappuccino, Americano, chai and hot chocolate maker. When I walked in, the Spa Attendant handed me a cushy robe, slippers and small container of Morrocan Oil Hair Treatment. After a brief explanation, I walked through the shower stalls, deciding which Bubbalina scent was calling my name. I chose the Pomegranate , washed my hair and body with the fragrant products, then followed the directions for the hydrating hair mask. With my hair slathered and capped, I grabbed a Lavazza capuccino, and headed for the steam and whirlpool. There was definitely not enough time before I whisked away to the treatment rooms for my Bright Skin facial.

The aesthetician was very knowledgable about the products and thorough with my skin. In addition to the organic line, Eminence, she also added products from the Skinceuticals line, which has been my choice in skin regiment for over 5 years now. This made me very happy, as I do not like to stray too much from regular routine. And, I loved how she customized the facial to meet my skins’ needs.

After a light scrub, extractions, facial massage, mask and hand massage, I was in a deep trance. A few light taps like rain drops on my face, and I felt refreshed and ready to conquer the rest of my day.

Time to Get Dirty Girls!

On February 23rd, I’m going to do something I would never allow my kids to do (OK, well, not on a regular basis!)…I’m going to roll around in the mud!

In my quest to re-ignite my fitness routine, I was asked by the Dirty Girl Mud Run for Las Vegas to be a blog ambassador. Though I’ve seen and have had tons of friends do these races, I’ve not done one myself. And, since my motto is, “Do One Things A Day That Scares You,” I decided this should be that thing for February 23rd.

At 10am, I will race through an obstacle course smothered and layered and covered in mud, with hopefully, a bunch of my friends, and feel a great sense of satisfaction afterwards!

What I love about this idea is Teams are encouraged, you can skip obstacles that are too difficult, and cancer survivors race for free! Check out what the Go Dirty Girl team has to say:

An untimed obstacle course that welcomes women of all ages and athletic abilities, Dirty Girl Mud Run challenges women to break from their routine for a day, get out of their comfort zones, get dirty, and accomplish something brand new – all while having a blast. Every one of the obstacles—from the “Utopian Tubes” tunnel crawl to the “PMS (Pretty Muddy Stuff)” mud pit—is optional, so participants can skip anything they find too difficult. Forming teams is encouraged, and so are crazy team uniforms. A Dirty Girl Mud Run comes with excitement, laughter, and camaraderie—as well as lots of music, food and drinks. From start to finish, it’s an unforgettable event and an incredible teambuilding experience.

The time and location for this is currently TBD, but you can follow along here, on the RockStarMomLV Facebook, or on the Go Dirty Girl Facebook page to keep up to date on all the latest info. If you are ready to sign up go to the Go Dirty Girl website to register, and use this discount code: DGTUBLOG20 to save 20% on your total registration.

Have you gotten Dirty before? I’d love to hear about your experience!

Run, Wiggle, Paint & Giggle at Kidville Las Vegas

After my boys turned 2, I decided it was time to brave the outside world. As my friends like to say, “Go a bit outside your comfort zone,” which, when you are a mother of multiples, that means getting all of you dressed and taking that first giant leap of faith by walking out the front door. For almost a year, people were surprised I had more kids than just my two older children!

I reached out to Melissa Weiner, Mayor of Kidville Las Vegas, to find out which class she would suggest for my rowdy 2 year old boys. Without hesitation she told me about the Run, Wiggle, Paint and Giggle class. Though the class is technically for children ages 18-months to 2 years, the boys were still at the right age for the class.

What I personally loved about that class is the structure it gave to my boys. They are full of energy, to put it mildly, and need to be constantly engaged in something new. Run, Wiggle, Paint, and Giggle offers just that type of thing. Ran much like a pre-school class, the first 15 minutes are spent with the children getting acclimated to their surroundings by taking off their shoes, saying Hi to their friends, and exploring the fun stations at the toddler sized tables. The next 15 minutes are spent in circle time, reading stories and singing songs. The last songs being a movement song that gets the children’s hands in the air and fingers ready to paint. Back to the tables they go for the arts and craft segment of the class.

The last 15-minutes is personally, my favorite, which includes one of the musicians from the Rockin’ Railroad coming into the class to play the guitar and sing songs with the kids. I think this was the twins’ favorite part, too, as they earned quite a reputation as the dancers and singers of the group.

Those 15-minute increments lasted just long enough that when the boys’ attention was about to fade, we moved onto the next activity. And, the activities varied just enough to keep them interested in doing something new. I really can’t say enough about Kidville Las Vegas…the classes, the space and the people. We LOVE it!

I want you to love it, too! Today through February 13, 2013, I am apart of a Kidville Las Vegas Give Away of a Half Semester and Silver Membership.
