This summer, crossing all my fingers and toes, I will get to take an amazing vacation with my husband and my two older kids to Indonesia, Bali, to be exact.

Bali Indonesia Jimbaran Bay Ritz Carlton

10 years ago in Bali. Cannot believe how young and thin we were!

RockStarHubby and I will be married 10 years on May 4th. We honeymooned in Bali, and fell in love with the culture, the atmosphere, and the land. One morning, on our lanai eating breakfast and looking out over the ocean, we were chatting about the next time we would be able to come back for a visit. It’s almost a 24-hour flight with the time change and layovers…it’s not like just hoping on a flight to Europe or Hawaii. We figured with the costs and the time, it most likely wouldn’t be for another 20-years until we could get back. And, since we figured we would be twenty years older with kids, we decided we would come back with them and renew our vows.

Bali Elephant

This is my kids' favorite photo. They can't wait to see all the animals up close and personal.

Then, something really super cool happened a few months ago…my best friend from college got engaged. Beyond the fact that I am just thrilled for her, I couldn’t help but have a slightly selfish reason attached for wanting to be at her wedding. See, we were also room mates, and would stay up for hours talking about our future goals and plans. We both had intentions of travelling and spending time living internationally, though she ended up really succeeding in that arena. Being from the Bay Area, she started working for a little company called, Shopping.com, that was bought several years later by another little company called eBay. They moved her down to Australia, where she lived for 4 years, met a hot Aussie, fell in love, got engaged…now they are living in Singapore. Lucky for me, their favorite romantic vaca spot is Bali, where they are planning on getting hitched. My dreams of an anniversary trip were moved up by 10 years!

Pretty close to the last time I wore a bikini!

So, now I am diligently shopping for cool, earthy, funky, islander style clothing for my kids. When my oldest son was a baby, I searched high and low for great pieces that were cute and different for little boys. I dedicated myself (and busted my budget) to baby boutique shopping, and came across this line called Tea Collection. Very apropo for me, I thought at least, and represented so many things about my own style that I loved. Tea, for one, and casual, cool clothes with a worldly vibe. Even better, it was for kids. They make the most adorable boys and girls line…from baby to big kid. The best part is that, yes, it can be boutique prices, but, if you are a good shopper, you’ll find deals all over the place, like sales at Nordstroms, end of season sales at boutiques, and on-line special offers. What I also love about this line is that I kept the clothes from my first son, and now my twins are wearing those items 7 years later. The quality lasts. It’s amazing. I have also bought my daughter some great pieces that I have handed down to friends. I cannot wait to start shopping at Tea Collection for our upcoming trip!

Not much has changed! Still fishing with the locals...

If you are in the market to purchase some great kids outfits for Spring Break or Summer vacation, check out the Tea Collection. Makes for great family photo opps, too!

Here is a message from Tea:

Spring is right around the corner and Tea Collection has put together the most adorable Spring 2012 Collection designed and influenced by the island of Bali. Shop the new collection now and take advantage of Tea Collection’s 10% off coupon (no minimum required) with promo code SS12SAS valid through 3/31/12. Although I love the entire collection below are a few of my absolute favorites!

I absolutely adore the Dancing Fern Dress. The colors and design make this the perfect dress for a school picture or a casual family gathering. Boys will love the Monkey King Teeinspired by the Ramayana Monkey Chant dance in Bali. Don’t worry moms! Tea Collection has even designed a Bali collection for women and I love the Artisan Ikat Tunic. It’s lightweight and goes perfect with a pair of jeans.

I can’t wait to get my shopping on!

Wondering what I’ve been up to lately?  Well, thanks to you, my loyal fans and readers, my blog, Inside the Mind of a RockStarMom, has been elevated to a higher ground.  While working to connect with the Las Vegas community, I started to meet some really neat and just plain amazing women who were also Social Media Savvy Las Vegas Bloggers.  Instantly we recognized that, while one voice speaking for many was awesome, what would that awesome-ness be like if we added many?  And, from there, developed the concept of growing my already established networking community on FaceBook, to a forward thinking, campaign-ready group of incredible women with a mission to build brands and business in Las Vegas.  But, why stop there?  Las Vegas is a top market city for national brands as well, and we are building the Social Media community here to prove it!

Together with some pretty admirable women, Lala Sams of TheDealFanatic, and Toni Spilsbury of OrganizedCook, we combined our goals and efforts to create a fabulous, fun and funky group of  social media mavens rocking the local’s scene in Vegas.  And, voila! Vegas Bloggers was created!

In between RockStarMomLV and VegasBloggers is me still working to create a balance of family, career, marriage and parenting…in true RockStarMomLV form. But, I want to thank you because without you, this launching pad wouldn’t have existed.  I am truly excited and grateful for what’s to come for 2012, and I hope you stay and endure the journey with me.

RockStarMomLV itself is beginning to transition into a true lifestyle niche of all things Vegas.  As you know, you just can’t beat the perspective of a true Las Vegas native, and I love to hear from my community.  Please feel free to leave comments on my blog and/or requests on my FaceBook page telling me what you’re dying to know from a native’s point of view about Las Vegas.

VegasBloggers will focus on the fabulous photographers, foodies, crafters, couponers, travel experts, lifestyle and family bloggers the Las Vegas Valley has to offer, while helping local and national brands and businesses tap into a specific demographic that meets their businesses needs.

Thanks for letting me share with you and thanks for taking the time to share with me! (And, share me with other!) There is no better place to learn, love and grow than within the confines of your community.  You guys rock!

In the dimly lit couple’s room, behind the sheer curtain, I confessed one of my secrets to my husband as he sat on the other side sipping a glass of champagne and waiting for me to show off the red lace corset and panty I was trying on.  “I love lingerie.”

Ya ya ya…what girl doesn’t, right?  Well, for me, it is more of an obsession.  My freshman year of college, my mom took me to Victoria’s Secret for the first time.  I was in awe at the price of panties!  I refused and spent half on cotton thongs from Mervyn’s and the rest probably on beer.  Then my junior year of college, I studied in Aix-en-Provence, France.  One weekend while I was exploring the city, I spotted a lingerie shop, and decided to pop in.  I couldn’t believe how beautiful the bras were…intricate lace designs with thin straps held together by delicate gold brackets.  I decided to try on a set.  I was hooked.  While all the other girls I was studying with spent their money on bags and shoes, I sought out every lingerie shop in every city I visited.  I came home with at least 10 matching bra and panty sets, along with nighties, garters and thigh highs.  They thought I was nuts to spend such outrageous amounts on these things, but the fun I had getting dressed up!  The secrets I kept from boyfriends during dinner, with slight reveals of certain things…I would plan my outfits around my lingerie.  I had an entire bridal shower dedicated to it for my honeymoon.  For better choice of words, I was a lingerie whore.  That’s right.  And my husband was a happier man for it.

Then I had kids.  And my flat stomach was no longer flat.  And my boobs were no longer perky on their own.  And I didn’t look as cute in my silks and lace and leathers.  So, I opted for comfy granny panties, over-sized t-shirts and cotton jammie pants.  While pregnant with the twins, my husband’s work had him doing some business at this intimate little sex shop (as he referred to it) called Kiki’s. Every so often, he would bring me home a classy and discreet black shopping bag, secured with black tape and decorated with an ivory satin ribbon.  Keep in mind, I was anywhere from 4-6 months pregnant with twins.  Inside would be the cutest jammies I had seen in awhile.  The sales staff knew I was pregnant and would tailor outfits to complement my expanding belly.  Not only were they cute, but they were insanely comfortable.  The more he brought home, the sexier they got. They fit, and they looked great.  I felt sexy again!  I was so impressed with the shop, the sales girls and the product, that I brought my girlfriends there for a GNO.  My love for sexy lingerie had been reignited.

So, when they invited us to their Fashions Night Out party, I responded right away.  The Kiki de Montparnasse boutique located inside the Crystals CityCenter is reminiscent of walking into a boutique in Paris.  The lights are low, the fixtures are romantic, the design is clean, simple and elegant.  Right away, we were offered a glass of champagne and a mixture of figs, strawberries and other aphrodisiacs.  The girls suggested we retreat to the couple’s room where we could be alone, and I could model some styles from their latest collection.  They also handed my husband a Polaroid camera and told him he had 5 shots available for him to take home.  The couple’s room is a quiet space hidden by heavy velvet curtains, with a brass, antique looking clothes rack, and peacock feathers covering the lights.  She also handed me some toys…masks, beads, a boa and a whip.  I tried on several items including these amazing skinny jeans with an endless front pocket (a little to the right, dear), a black lace bra and panty set from the Le Soliel collection, lace tights, and a red corset top and matching bottom from the Ingenue collection paired with a silk nurses costume my husband couldn’t seem to get enough of.  I went home with a pretty party bag of goodies including the Le Soliel set, the Boyfriend shirt, and some of these fun panties from the Jersey collection.  Part of the proceeds from the Fashions Night Out sales went to benefit the Nevada Cancer Institute, which made it even more fun to shop.  I also walked out the winner of this beautiful accessory, the Poppy Corset Belt, which I couldn’t wait to wear and showed it off at an event the following night.

Afterwards, we headed over to Bar Masa to complete our night with sushi and Wasabitinis.  We were totally amped from the evening, and were giddy over our couple’s room experience.  As we looked over our polaroid pics, my husband and I agreed it was one of our best date nights yet.
